About Life Note

Life Note is an AI journaling app with mentors modeled on 1,000+ thinkers. Who runs this blog, what it publishes, and the editorial standards behind it.

Life Note is an AI journaling app. You write, and a mentor of your choice writes back. The mentors are modeled on more than 1,000 thinkers across 20+ disciplines, including philosophers, psychologists, writers and leaders such as Carl Jung, Marcus Aurelius and Maya Angelou, and their replies draw on what those people actually wrote. Life Note runs on iPhone, Android and the web.

Life Note was founded by Daniel W. Chen. This blog started in September 2024.

What we publish here

The blog covers journaling methods, journal prompts, self-reflection quizzes and worksheets, and the psychology and philosophy behind them: attachment, shadow work, Stoicism, cognitive behavioral techniques and expressive writing. We also publish comparisons of journaling apps. Articles are available in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German and Portuguese. The glossary defines the terms we use most.

Editorial standards

  • Sources. When an article states a research finding, it names the study and its authors and year. We re-check published claims against their sources and correct or remove the ones that do not hold up.
  • Quizzes and worksheets. These are tools for self-reflection. They are not clinical instruments and they do not diagnose anything.
  • App comparisons. We make one of the apps we write about. Where Life Note appears in a comparison, it is labeled as ours. Facts about other apps come from their own websites and store listings, and we do not say we tested an app unless we did.
  • Health. Nothing here is medical or psychological advice. Journaling can support mental health care, and it does not replace a doctor or a therapist. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line.
  • Corrections. If you find an error, tell us through the contact options on mylifenote.ai and we will fix it.

For AI tools and researchers
