I quit my job with nothing but a vague dream: could I use AI to improve my spiritual practice?
I just didn't feel right working on something that didn't align with my long-term value and it felt like the right moment to do it.
I wanted to create a tool that truly understands me and helps me become the best possible version of myself—to fully self-actualize.
At first, some doubted the idea. They said, “Who would want to journal with an AI? That’s fake.”
But the journaling with mentors features became the most beloved part of Life Note, even to my surprise. Many of us, including myself, were moved to tears, while others found the strength to stop a negative train of thought for an entire day.
The Internet and modern life have left countless inner voices unheard and many souls feeling lonely. But together, we’re changing that. We’re moving beyond the superficial connections of the social media era into an era of abundant, genuine self-connection.
Year 1: A Journey of Growth
Here’s where we’ve come so far:
- From 0 users to 2000+ community members across 10+ countries
- A diverse group of users, including clinical psychologists, students, lawyers, entrepreneurs, investors, art directors, product managers, consultants, life coaches, sales professionals, and operators—aged 18 to 60+
- Many people transitioning from tools like Notion, Apple Notes, and Day One Journal to Life Note. (Fun fact, I was a Day One user for a long time!)
Life Note is slowly becoming a space for self-knowledge, healing, and self-discovery.
But there's still a lot more to be done, we are only at the beginning.
Looking Ahead to 2025
- The first mobile version
- A 10x better experience
- Features to enable:
- A deeper and more valuable reflection
- Greater wisdom absorption and the ability to engage deeper with real stories
- Assisted self-awareness
- More magic moments!
My Situation
I deeply appreciate your patience this year. Right now, Life Note is a one-person team—just me. I handle everything myself, from coding and design to marketing and customer support.
It's only because building something meaningful takes time—especially when finding the right partners or investors:
- People who align with my values and truly understand the mission.
- Those who care about creating impact rather than just chasing returns.
That’s why I’m incredibly selective about who I work with or where funding might come from.
Your support through subscriptions means the world to me and helps make Life Note sustainable. Right now I'm still far from supporting myself through Life Note, but I'm confident we'll get there.
So, thank you for believing in this vision!
Heartwarming Stories from 2024
Here are just a few moments that made this year unforgettable:
- People who couldn’t afford therapy journaled with mentors like Jung or Adler and found healing.
- Some in their 50s rediscovered their life’s purpose and began actively pursuing it.
- A high school student in a tough family environment used Life Note to explore life’s possibilities and practice manifestation

- Many of us at the 'difficult moments' in life and using Life Note to find the 'gift' in the moments
Cheers to everyone who joined the 2025 Journaling Challenge—I’ll share more about it soon!
If you missed it, no worries—you can still lock in the early supporter price of $49.99 annually, forever. (Honestly, I think it’s an amazing deal!)
I feel truly blessed to work on Life Note every day and couldn’t be more excited for what 2025 has in store for all of us.
Namaste,
Daniel W. Chen
